Annual Dinner Speaker & Program – Jim McCormac

October 16, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

We’re pleased to announce that Jim McCormac, retired field botanist, wildlife photographer and author (based in Columbus, Ohio) will speak at our Annual Dinner at the Riviera Club. Jim worked for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for 31 years as a field botanist and a specialist on wildlife diversity projects. He’s best known for his photography and as a popular, in-demand speaker. Jim comes highly recommended from our members, who’ve heard him speak and have seen his stunning wildlife photography.

On October 16, he’ll talk to us about “Mysterious Moths: The Darker Side of Butterflies.”  Moths are inextricably linked to native plants, birds, bats and the eastern deciduous forest ecosystem, Jim explained. “This talk will be a pictorial journey into an intriguing and little-known world that unfolds all around us.”  He’ll encourage us to try “moth-gardening” in our own backyards.

For more information about Jim, check out his website: https://www.jimmccormac.com/ to see over 1,000 of his photos and to find out about his books and articles. He also has a blog: Ohio Birds and Biodiversity: https://jimmccormac.blogspot.com/
